GIRLS SELECT CHEERLEADING GRADES 3rd THRU 6TH
2009-2010 Season
TRYOUTS: There is no charge for tryouts.
COST: $160.00 per cheerleader. If you are a returning cheerleader, the cost is $100.00.
WHEN: PRACTICE--Beavertown Elementary 6-8pm Monday, September 21st &
Monday, September 28th
TRYOUTS--Athletic Center (Fairmont HS) 6-9pm Wednesday, September 30th
(Your tryout times and groups will be announced once registration is complete)
DRESS: Dress in T-shirt, shorts, socks, gym shoes, hair up. NO jeans and NO jewelry
Things to know….
Selection process…The girls will
learn 3 jumps, (5-8) 8-counts to a dance routine, a cheer and 3 sidelines.
Tryouts will consist of 5 judges. The highest and lowest score will be
eliminated and then the remaining three scores averaged then ranked. The girls
will be judged on Jumps (pointed toes, height, appropriate prep/technique),
knowledge of cheers/dance, proper arm placement, facials, voice projection, and
gymnastics (roundoff or backhandspring). THEY DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE A
BACKHANDSPRING TO MAKE THE TEAM. Depending on how many girls tryout will
determine how many we take. Seven girls maximum will be selected for each
team along with 2 alternates. There will be 2 teams for each grade. Each grade
(total of 14 cheerleaders) will compete together at competition.
Results of the tryout will be
posted on the website within a week of tryouts.
We will likely do one fundraiser
to support the club. We will do an additional fundraiser to help
purchase some cheer items and/or gym time at the YMCA.
You will have 2 practices per week
and cheer for 1–2 home games/week. All home games are usually on Saturdays.
You will cheer at tournaments. Home games are played at JE Prass Elementary.
